This post is about how to replace a LCD screen for Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop as well as other Dell laptops.
Before disassembling a laptop, please unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery.
Step1
Please find the six screw locations. The red is two plastic seals and the blue is rubber seals. Removing the seals with a sharp object, you will find six screws.

Step2
Seperate the screen bezel from top to bottom.

Step3
Remove four screws securing the LCD screen from left to the right mounting bracket.

Step4
Carefully remove the screws of web camera first. Then, separate the LCD screen assembly from the display cover. The web camera is still attached to the screen.

Step 5
Upside down the LCD screen, there’s a green ribbon that is video cable. One side is connected to the screen and the other one to the inverter board.

Carefully push on two latches on both sides of the LCD connector, release the cable and disconnect it from the LCD screen. After that, pull the other connector up and disconnect it from inverter board.

Step 6
Now the LCD screen can be removed.

Located at the bottom of the LCD screen, the inverter board is the attachment of LCD screen that can be replaced separately.
If you need a LCD screen replacement, inverter board or other laptop parts, please go to eTech.com.

I dropped my laptop and half of the screen is all scrambled. It looks like it got stuck on windows and the only thing I can do is turn it off and on. Can I just replace the screen or will I have to buy a new laptop? Help!
Thanks, Sherry Jarrard(Quote) (Reply)

Sherry Jarrard,
You can test your laptop with an external screen first, if your external screen works well, then you can replace the screen with a new one; if the external screen can not work well too, you can try to replug the graphic card. lang(Quote) (Reply)

Replaced the screen , and now I can see the whole screen , but a black vertical line shows on right about 4″ wide.
I re-did the operation 3 times , but still same thing. I’m thinking There is a problem with the driver ?
Let me know what to do please, if you know. RaduJohn(Quote) (Reply)
