More and more rumours hit the the net wave these days that the Asus is planing to buy the Toshiba laptop businiss,as the Asus is ambitious to become the world’s top three laptop manufactures by 2011.

According to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report citing Jonney Shih, the company chairman, it is said that Toshiba’s laptop business has been identified as one of the Asus company’s potential targets.

As we know, Asus has 5% of the laptop market which makes him to become the top fifth laptop maker. While if the Asus want to become the top three laptop manufactures by 2011. Asus needs another 5% share of the market. To achieving this ambitious target, it seems that the acquisitions will be the quickest way .

Asus increases its market share mostly by the Eee PC netbooks. And during the first quarter of 2009, Asus shipped just 800,000 netbooks according to a search. While in comparison, the Toshiba shipped 2.8m notebooks worldwide.

This action is surely to create pressure on Dell which is currently the third worldwide laptop manufacture and Lenovo as well. It may also have an big influence on the laptop market. While all of this are not the final result.
