Nikon S3000 will be released in March 2010, priced at $150. The super slim body (Dimensions (W x H x D |- Approx. 94.3 x 55.9 x 19.0 mm and weight 116gm), 12-megapixels, a 4x wide-angle Zoom-Nikkor lens, making it the ideal size for fitting in your pocket or bag, ready to whip out for that perfect moment. And the 2.7 inch monitor, making it easy to view all your great pictures. Nikon S3000 provides an array of advanced shooting features, such as four anti-blur functions including electronic vibration reduction (eVR) to ensure clear pictures. Nikon S3000 will be available in plum, champagne silver, black, orange, green and blue colors.

Nikon S3000 multi-modes: There are 16 modes for selecting, which make it quicker and easier to take beautiful pictures. You don’t even need to worry about your subject smiling, the Smile Timer automatically recognizes this and takes the picture at the appropriate moment.

Nikon S3000 easy to use: Nikon S3000 is all about having fun while taking great pictures, not spending time setting up manual controls or changing the settings only to find that great shot has been missed. The buttons are larger making it quick and easy to get the function you want and the zoom is in easy reach at the top of the camera so you can concentrate on capturing the action. The image-processing system is optimized based on Nikon’s original image-processing concept, Expeed. You can also charge the camera from your PC or laptop with the USB charger adapter when a plug socket isn’t available.

Nikon S3000 auto functions: Nikon S3000 will make sure nothing stands in your way for taking a great shot. The 6.7 cm (2.7 inch) LCD screen with an anti-reflective coating makes it easy to shoot and share your pictures, even in bright sunlight. And in whatever situation you find yourself in, the Scene Auto Selector will make sure your surroundings are captured perfectly, without having to change any settings.

Nikon S3000 other functions: Besides Nikon S3000’s auto functions, Nikon’s Smart Portrait System, Face-priority AF system, Subject Tracking, Skin Softening function are also excellent. What I want to mention is that there’s even a warning if someone has their eyes shut when you’ve taken the picture, to allow you to re-take the picture, so you don’t have to discover this when you’re reviewing your pictures later on. Finally, the anti-red eye function automatically corrects the red-eye effect before saving the image.

Package: Nikon 3000, Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10, Charging AC Adapter EH-68P/EH-68P (AR), USB Cable UC-E6, Audio Video Cable EG-CP14, Strap AN-CP19, Software Suite CD-ROM

Mark Pekelharing, Product Line Manager Consumer Products at Nikon Europe B.V comments: “The S3000 is ideal for those looking for a camera that’s fun to use, chic and great value for money. And as you’d expect from a Nikon it delivers fantastic pictures. It inherits it looks from the popular predecessor S220 and is bound to be even more popular with our customers, with even more features and a more powerful zoom lens, all packed into an even smaller body. Nikon S3000 is the perfect all-rounder.” But whether Nikon 3000 will be popular in future digital camera market, let us wait to see!

Olympus EP-2 digital camera was released in the late 2009. As a descendant of Olympus EP-1, Olympus EP-2 has a lot of improvements, also has something that is not so satisfactory. With about $1100, you can get one in digital camera market. If you are interested in this EP-2, please read on:

Features:
Olympus EP-2 uses a 12.3-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor which is slightly smaller in size than what is found in most digital SLRs. Olympus EP-2 looks almost identical to the E-P1, but E-P2 has some subtle internal enhancements and, above all, a clip-on high resolution electronic viewfinder. An optional adapter will also enable stereo audio recording for movies via an external microphone as an alternative to the camera’s built-in stereo microphones. There are also additional Art Filters, improved autofocus, and some tweaks to the intelligent Auto exposure system.

Design:

Olympus EP-2’s high-end, stainless-steel all-black body is easy to handle and carry, and has the styling and refinement of a precision chronometer. Its retro-chic look turns heads, from tech-aficionados and camera buffs to the style-conscious and everyday point-and-shooter. Built rock solid, it fits comfortably in a jacket pocket or a handbag for impromptu street-shooting or any spontaneous adventure. Olympus EP-2 lets you do more and go more places while capturing your life, thanks to its compact size – 4.74″(W) x 2.75″ (H) x 1.37″ (D) – and light 11.1-ounce body. Attention to detail is visible in every aspect of the PEN’s design, including the currently available small and lightweight 14-42mm and 17mm M. ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses as well as the newly announced 9-18mm f4.0-5.6 (18-36mm equivalent) and 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 (28-300mm equivalent) M. ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses.

LCD display:
I have to say that the design of LCD screen in Olympus EP-2 is not so reasonable. It has a big 3-inch LCD, but low-resolution. Olympus E-P2 has many display screens, which you select by pressing the Info button, but I’m afraid none of them meets my needs all on one screen. Though I like the leveling feature, that screen doesn’t tell you what aperture or shutter speed you have set, which is pretty important on a camera like Olympus E-P2. If you want the histogram or exposure info, you have to lose the leveling feature. I found myself hitting the Info button way too often when using Olympus E-P2.And if you shoot in the Art Filters mode and have the center-AF point screen up, you can’t zoom in to focus, because the Set button both zooms and changes the Art Filter.

Performance:

Though expensive, Olympus E-P2 features its nice performance. Here is a piture:

In the Box:
Olympus E-P2 ships with the following items in the box:
• Olympus EP-2 body
• VF-2 shoe-mount electronic view finder
• 14-42mm or 17mm lens (if purchased as a kit)
• Body cap
• Lens caps
• Lithium-ion battery BLS-1
• Battery charger BCS-1
• Multi-cable
• Shoulder strap
• Olympus Master CD-ROM
• Instruction manual
• Warranty card

We know, Olympus EP-1 is very hot in Japan, whether Olympus EP-2 will fly off the shelve again. Let us wait to see.

Do you have some knowledge on CPL filter and PL filter? In this article, I’d like to share what I know:

The polarized light is harmful in photography. The reflected light on the surface of the glass prevents us taking pictures for something inside the showcase. The reflected light on the water prevents us taking pictures for the fish, and it also makes the green leave turn white. Without the polarized light, the pictures will become clear and more beautiful. Then, PL filter is used. Mount the PL filter on the front of the lens, and rotate it until well suited, which minimize the glare as well as some non- polarized light.

How does the polarized light produce? In AF and AE digital cameras, some light will be reflected to the metering element. If the light is reflected from the semireflecting mirror, and the semireflecting mirror is coated with non-metal material, then, the reflected light is polarized light. In these digital cameras, if the common PL filter is used, the performance may not be good, since the angle will affect the reflection of the light, if the angle is not focused correctly, the light can not be reflected successfully. Besides, the LCD display of some digital cameras is illuminated by lens, if the lens use PL filter, the LCD display can not work. In this case, CPL filter should be used. CPL filter is made up with two parts, the front part is a common PL filter used to filter the polarized light in the certain direction, and the back part is able to make the polarized light move in a circle. Therefore, it is named CPL filter.

The CPL filter is much more expensive than that of PL filter. Whether the digital camera use CPL filter or just PL filter, some tests should be made:
Check AF: Rotate the PL filter in different directions, half-press the shutter button and autofocus. If it is able to autofocus in any direction, you just get a PL filter to fulfill the AF function. If not, you should buy a CPL filter.
Check AE: Mount the PL filter in front of the lens, and meter the white wall. If there are different light values, you should buy CPL filter. If there is no problem with the AE and AF, PL filter is OK.

It has a 12.3-megapixel sensor capable of HD video capture, with features of face detection, Art Filters, the SuperSonic Wave Filter for dust reduction, sensor-shift image stabilization, multiple exposures that other Olympus has. But the Olympus E-P1 introduces something new to the company as well, including HD video, digital leveling, 324-area matrix metering, onboard music, and in-camera music/still/video integration. Now, let us have a review:

Design
Like most consumer DSLRs, the Olympus E-P1 offers a mix of novice-friendly auto exposure options and full manual control for enthusiasts – with the added twist of Olympus’s Art Filters technology. Olympus’s latest in-camera processing and emulation system, Art Filters serve up six photo effects, including filters mirroring the look of shooting with a pinhole camera, a soft-focus filter, or on high-speed monochrome film. A complete list of the camera’s shooting options is as follows:

iAuto: Camera selects all exposure values
Program: Auto exposure mode with user control for flash settings, metering mode,
Shutter Priority: User selects shutter speed, and camera calculates aperture for correct exposure
Aperture Priority: User selects aperture, and camera calculates shutter speed for correct exposure
Manual: User selects both aperture and shutter speed
SCN: Fourteen scene presets – landscape, portrait, macro, sport, night scene, night portrait, landscape + portrait, children, high key, low key, DIS mode, nature macro, candle, sunset, documents, panorama, fireworks, and beach/snow
ART: The aforementioned art filters, are accessed via a menu from this position
Movie Mode: This mode allows you to record video with audio at 30 frames per second in HD (1280 x 720) or SD (640 x 480) resolutions

LCD screen
The Olympus E-P1′s 3-inch, 230,000-dot rear LCD screen has a very wide viewing angle and remains visible outdoors in the sunshine too, but only if you increase its brightness level to the maximum setting. The resolution is on the low side for such a large screen, resulting in a slightly grainy display, but it does offer 100% scene coverage. The colour temperature of the screen can be modified if you think it doesn’t match that of your calibrated computer monitor, but the contrast and gamma cannot be altered.
The LCD screen doubles as a status display, with seven different screens on offer, which can be called up by repeatedly pressing the Info button in record mode. These include the camera’s key settings and a small live histogram (although sadly not both at the same time), an innovative level gauge which makes it easy to straighten either the horizontal or vertical horizon, and a live preview of different exposure compensation and white balance settings in a multi-frame window.
You can also change all the important settings right on the LCD screen, which Olympus calls the Super Control Panel. This ingenious solution spares you the pain of having to enter the menu, and makes most settings changes fairly simple. Four of the most often-used functions – ISO sensitivity, focusing mode, white balance and drive mode – each have their own dedicated button mapped onto the four-way pad. In addition exposure compensation has its own dedicated button situated on the top plate next to the shutter release button.

Pros: Striking design; excellent build quality; impressive photo quality; interchangeable lens support.
Cons: Sluggish autofocus; short battery life; low-resolution LCD; lacks on-camera flash and viewfinder.

In photography, a tripod is used to stabilize and elevate a camera, or to support flashes or other photographic equipment.

Usage

Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent camera movement. They are necessary when slow-speed exposures are being made, or when telephoto lenses are used, as any camera movement while the shutter is open will produce a blurred image. In the same vein, they reduce camera shake, and thus are instrumental in achieving maximum sharpness.

A tripod is also helpful in achieving precise framing of the image, or when more than one image is being made of the same scene, for example when bracketing the exposure. Use of a tripod may also allow for a more thoughtful approach to photography. For all of these reasons a tripod of some sort is often necessary for professional photography as well as certain video uses. Tripods are also used as an alternative to C-Stands to photographic accessories.

Construction

For maximum strength and stability, most photographic tripods are braced around a center post, with collapsible telescoping legs and a telescoping section at the top that can be raised or lowered. At the top of the tripod is the head, which includes the camera mount (usually a detachable plate with a thumbscrew to hold onto the camera), several joints to allow the camera to pan and tilt, and usually a handle to allow the operator to do so without jostling the camera. Some tripods also feature integrated remote controls to control a camcorder or camera, though these are usually proprietary to the company that built the camera.

Screw thread

The de facto standard threading for the screw that attaches the camera to the tripod is 1/4″-20tpi (threads per inch) Whitworth for smaller cameras or 3/8″-16tpi Whitworth for larger cameras and pan/tilt heads. 1/4″-20 UNC and 3/8″-16 UNC screw threads are generally close enough to work when Whitworth screw forms are unavailable.

Variations

There are several types of tripod. The least expensive, generally made of aluminium tubing and costing less than US$100, is used primarily for consumer still and video cameras; these generally come with an attached head and rubber feet. The head is very basic, and often not entirely suitable for smooth panning of a camcorder. A common feature, mostly designed for still cameras, allows the head to flip sideways 90 degrees to allow the camera to take pictures in portrait format rather than landscape. Often included is a small pin on front of the mounting screw that is used to stabilize camcorders. This is not found on the more expensive photographic tripods.

More expensive tripods are sturdier, stronger, and usually come with no integrated head. The separate heads allow a tripod-head combination to be customized to the photographer’s needs. There are expensive carbon fiber tripods, used for applications where the tripod needs to be lightweight. Many tripods, even some relatively inexpensive ones, also include leveling indicators for the legs of the tripod and the head.

Many of the more expensive tripods have additional features, such as a reversible center post so that the camera may be mounted between the legs, allowing for shots from low positions, and legs that can open to several different angles.

Small tabletop tripods (sometimes called tablepods) are also available, ranging from relatively flimsy models costing less than US$20, to professional models that can cost up to $800 USD and can support up to 68 kg (150 lb). They are used in situations where a full sized tripod would be too bulky to carry. An alternative is a clamp-pod, which is a ball
head attached to a C-clamp.

Another is actually made of string. Forming a triangle with the two feet of the photographer and linking to the camera. This negative string tripod, can give up to three stops.

Heads

The head is the part of the tripod that attaches to the camera and allows it to be aimed. It may be integrated into the tripod, or a separate part. There are generally two different types of heads available.

A ball head utilizes a ball and socket joint to allow movement of all axes of rotation from a single point. Some ball heads also have a separate panoramic rotation axis on the base of the head. The head has two main parts, the ball, which attaches to the camera and the socket, which attaches to the tripod. The camera is attached to the ball via quick release plate, or a simple 1/4″-20 screw. The socket is where the ball rotates in, and also contains the controls for locking the ball. The socket has a slot on the side, to allow the camera to be rotated to the portrait orientation. Ball heads come in varying styles of complexity. Some have only one control for both ball and pan lock. While others have individual controls for the ball, pan, and also ball friction. Ball heads are used when a free-flow movement of the camera is needed. They are also more stable, and can hold heavier loads, than pan-tilt heads. However, ball heads have the disadvantage that only one control is available to allow or prevent movement of all axes of rotation, so if the camera is tilted on one axis, there may be risk of tilting on the other axes as well. When movement of one, or two axes or rotation is needed, a pan-tilt head is used.

The pan-tilt head has separate axes and controls for tilting and panning, so that a certain axis can be controlled without risk of affecting the other axes. These heads come in two types, 2-way and 3-way. 2-way heads have 2 axes and controls, one for panoramic rotation, and one for front tilt. 3-way heads have 3 axes and controls, one for panoramic
rotation, front tilt, and lateral tilt. The controls on these heads, are usually handles that can be turned, to loosen or tighten the certain axis. This allows movement in one, a few, or none of the axes. When movement of all axes of rotation is needed, a ball head is used. There are some pan-tilt heads that use gears, for precision control of each axis.
This is helpful for some types of photography, such as macro photography.

Other tripod head types include the fluid head, gear head, alt-azimuth, and equatorial heads. Fluid heads and gear heads move very smoothly, avoiding the jerkiness caused by the stick-slip effect found in other types of tripod head.

Monopod

In place of or to supplement a tripod, some photographers use a one-legged telescoping stand called a monopod for convenience in setup and breakdown. A monopod requires the photographer to hold the camera in place, but because the photographer no longer has to support the full weight of the camera, it can provide some of the same stabilization
advantages as a tripod.

And Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS digital camera is a good example.

Basic Features:
Featured 10 megapixel, a 3x zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, DIGIC 4 processor, new Smart AUTO mode, and Anti-Blur and Face Detection technologies, the Canon IXUS 95 IS is available now in dark gray, blue, pink, green, light gray and orange for $229.99.

LCD Display
Frame and review shots with a bright, detailed 2.5” PureColor LCD II, which is protected against light reflections, scratches and dirt. A wide viewing angle lets you easily share images with friends.

Face Detection Technology
Face detection technology is also on board to pinpoint faces in the frame, though here you don’t get the blink detection feature found on the IXUS 100 IS. Macro shooting down to 3cm is offered – adequate, without being class leading – while manually selectable light sensitivity – via the L-shaped on-screen toolbar familiar to regular Canon users – stretches from ISO 80 to ISO 1600. Rechargeable lithium ion battery life is good for a so-so 260 shots per charge. Nothing spectacular here then, but given its price point, build quality, and intended audience, not much to grumble about either.

Smart Auto Mode
For incredible pictures with extreme ease, the IXUS 95IS incorporates a new Smart Auto mode. This uses Canon’s Scene Detection Technology to analyse the shooting scene in detail – checking subject brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. The camera then instantly selects one of 18 possible modes, to ensure perfect settings for the scene.

3x Zoom
For maximum zoom, there are similarities with the first two test photos. The shot is very sharp, much sharper than is typical. Some of the blue lines on the boats have taken on a purple tinge, but this will only be noticeable at this distance if you make extreme sized prints. For medium, Sharpness is well above average and there is very little fall off in focusing as you move out towards the edges. Where the sun strikes the boats one or two of the blue lines have taken on a purple tinge. There is also a slight haze effect happening in places around the brightest areas of the shot. As to no zoom, This photo is noticeable sharper than I am used to seeing. When no zoom is being used most digital cameras, especially the smaller ones, find accurate focusing a big challenge. The IXUS 95 IS passes this test well and you should be able to produce sharp looking, larger prints.

Pros
Excellent auto flash, good macro mode, inclusion of an optical viewfinder, well exposed images, simple operation; , Smart Auto, Image Stabilisation
Cons
No full manual mode or focus, viewfinder is approximate to view, ISO 1600 is noisy, limited lens range (wider and longer would be an improvement), expensive compared to rivals

Comparison:
If you have interest, you can compare Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS with Canon PowerShot A2100 which features a new 12.1 megapixel sensor, 6x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 36-216mm and optical image stabilizer, a large 3-inch LCD screen with wide viewing angle, new DIGIC 4 image processing engine, 18 shooting modes including the new Smart Auto and improved Easy modes with Scene Detection Technology for point-and-shoot operation, plus Face Detection, Face Select & Track, i-Contrast, Motion Detection and Auto Red-Eye Correction technologies.

Samsung digital camera gets great development in 2009. The newly produced WB, ST series are so arractive that Samsung fans are crazy about that. Now, I’d like to focus on the Samsun WB1000 digital camera, whose design realizes a perfect mixture of old school and futuristic elements.

Basic features:

The Samsung WB1000 Digital Camera is a new innovative product with more special features in it. It measures 97 mm x 61 mm x 21 mm in dimension and a weight of 160gms. It comes with a high resolution of 12.2 Mega pixel and gives a high quality images. The screen resolution has 460000 pixels and AMOLED screen is named for its best quality output consuming a less power.
Design
On the top of the camera are two analog gauges which show the available battery life and memory space. Power on the shooter and in a short moment the needles will move into place. If you need precise numbers on how many more pictures you can take, you can always refer to the rear 3-inch display. Most of the controls on the WB1000 are located on the right side of the screen and implemented in such a way that one-hand operation is possible. However, you may want to exercise caution when pressing the two buttons (playback and function) near the bottom. This is because the balance of the shooter can get thrown off if you’re holding the snapper with one hand. A minor gripe we have with the Samsung camera is the zoom switch. It is a tiny lip located below the mode dial. Pushing it up zooms the lens, while slipping it down will retract the optics. The scroll wheel doubles as a four-way navigation pad, too. In manual exposure mode, turning the wheel changes the aperture/shutter speed, while pressing its sides lets you toggle focusing modes, self-timer, display and flash options. Operating these should become rather intuitive after you get the hang of it.

Overflowing options
The Samsung WB1000 is overflowing with shooting options of all degrees of adjustability. The ‘smart auto’ mode automatically chooses the appropriate camera settings based on 11 scene types. Want to pick your scene type? There are 13 to choose from, including a ‘frame guide’ option that lets you compose a shot, capture part of the pre-composed scene on-screen, and then hand the camera off to someone else to take the picture while you get in the shot. Those who don’t want to touch any settings can put the camera in ‘auto’, which prevents most options from being changed.

Zoom
For medium zoom, colours appear to be well balanced in Samsung WB 1000 and there is minimal detail lost from the lightest areas of the shot. Sharpness is good too. The only area to see improved is for more detail to have shown in the darker areas of the photo. For maximum zoom, with the lens zoomed in fully the WB1000 manages to produce a sharp enough photo. If you increase print size you do start to notice a hazy look around some of the boats. Focusing also shows a slight slippage towards the edges of the shot. As to no zoom, for a camera with such a wide angle lens this is a very credible effort. Although not perfect I think the level of sharpness the WB1000 manages to produce is very good indeed. There is just a hint of darkness creeping into the very corner of the photo.

Pros: Great quality, with loads of features, nice and small for the pocket, value for the money (Price range: £202.98 – £301.04)
Cons: Just so-so image quality and performance

Canon introduced 10 new PowerShot cameras that offer an array of photographic options for the entry-level consumer to the photo enthusiast in February 17,2009. Now, I’d like to focus on one of them–Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera which realizes all-around waterproof, freeze proof and shockproof.

Basic features:

The Canon PowerShot D10 is waterproof up to 10 meters / 33-feet deep, freeze proof from -10°C / 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof up to 1.22 meters / 4 feet, and is fully protected from dust. More regular features include a 12 megapixel sensor, 3x zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization, 2.5 inch LCD screen, and new Smart AUTO, Blink Detection and FaceSelf-Timer modes. Although the $329.99 is not a low price, Canon PowerShot D10 deserves.

Design and Performance

The LCD of Canon PowerShot D10 was truly a gem. Even in broad daylight, we do not need to worry about the images on-screen. The button layout was also well designed, and Canon Digital Elph users will be particularly at home. The only major differences were the zoom mechanism — which is handled by two rubber buttons to the right of the LCD — and the movie mode, which is triggered by a button atop the LCD. Generally speaking, we had no issues navigating the UI, switching from movie mode to still mode (or vice versa) or zooming.

Start up was snappy (well under a second), and all of the buttons were well placed and easy to operate, even while submerged. Unfortunately, the actual shutter and autofocus performance didn’t follow suit. In most cases, the camera focused quickly enough for us to capture whatever action was in front of us, but there were a few occasions where we missed out due to sluggish shutter response. It’s hardly worse than the average non-waterproof point-and-shoot, but you best be on top of your game if you’re hoping to snap that perfect shot before a wave eats you alive.
Besides, The PowerShot D10 has a comprehensive Face Detection system that makes it easier to take great portraits. It detects up to 35 faces in a shot and adjusts the focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance automatically. The new Face Self Timer function is very useful for including yourself in group- or self-portraits. When you press the shutter release, walk into the scene, and two seconds after the camera detects that a new face appeared in the frame, the camera will automatically take the picture. Finally, Blink Detection can detect if a person in the picture has blinked and will automatically prompt you to retake the photo.

Battery life

Speaking of battery life, we were able to squeeze out around 45 minutes of VGA video along with a couple hundred snapshots before the battery warning indicator popped up. And, mind you, that’s 40 minutes of having the rear LCD flipped on. Outside of that, we never once took enough shots to drain it completely in a day. We didn’t go about any formal battery life testing, but overall we were mighty impressed by just how long the rechargeable cell held out. Unless you plan on firing off a thousands shots with flash, battery life shouldn’t be a concern.
Summary

In many ways using the Canon PowerShot D10 is much like using any other Canon point-and-shoot compact. Ignore the rather obvious external design differences, and you’ll find that the D10 offers the usual blend of intuitive handling, sensible design and largely dependable image quality. It shares a lot in common with its PowerShot and IXUS / Digital Elph relatives, making it easy to pick-up and use if you’ve ever owned a recent Canon compact. A few corners have been cut to accommodate the D10′s almost bomb-proof protective features – the 3x, 35-135mm zoom lens and 2.5 inch LCD screen are rather hum-drum for a 2009 camera. On a more positive note, though, the lens is quite fast, making it well-suited to underwater use, and the screen is bright enough to be clearly seen in all but the murkiest of conditions. All in all, Canon PowerShot D10 is a digital camera that you will not regret if you pay.

Pros: waterproof, freeze proof ,shockproof, elegant design, nice LCD display

Cons: a little heavy, high price

From the G1 in 2000 to G11 in autumn of this year, Canon G Series unknowingly accompany with us 10 years.G11 gives us a good first impression is that – flip screen come back! Exactly say that flip screens disappeared from the Canon G6, in the after the G7, G9, and G10, finally resurrect in G11. Canon PowerShot G11 used a small 10 million pixel sensor. Compared with G10, G11 cost nearly five million pixels, in exchange for a more powerful ability to control noise.

Full manual exposure mode, the button body surrounded by dense classical ,28-140mm focal range of high-quality lens, practical “dual noise reduction” technology. In the G11, the Canon finally out of the high-resolution, big zoom and other “stereotypes”, forward with the goal of a low-noise and high-quality flagship of DC.

In the overall appearance, G11 basically followed the style of the G10, but at the corner handling, G11 a bit less angular, more rounded. In working, the flagship Canon PowerShot G11 will undoubtedly have the highest level of small DC, wide body is similar in size with some have been Micro 4 / 3 type single-lens reflex, you can feel a good texture when griping in the hands.

A lot of users quite please with the flip LCD on the G11. A 2.8-inch, 46-megapixel hardware parameters of the camera in this grade can be said that there is no counterweight. Compared with Canon SX20 IS 23 million pixels on the flip screen, G11, 46 million pixel screen is no doubt to be fine. In the flip way, G11 is the same as other Canon cameras which use of flip LCD.

Canon G-series camera has a very powerful battery life. G11 also uses the same level camera batteries like SLR, although the NB-7L can not be directly inserted in the EOS SLR cameras, but the 1050mAh, 7.4V for the ultra-large-capacity Canon G11 has a very strong endurance. After the G11 in a single charge you can shoot a lot of photos, and refeo to specific shooting situations, if you do not open the flash, G11 with at least 550 of the endurance capacity, if less open the flash, then the G11 take more than 400 photographs shot is absolutely no problem.

Canon PowerShot G11′s lens ring although not like the S90 to rotate, but we could be screwed down so as to install a variety of additional mirrors. Of course, the price of G11 attached mirror is very expensive, and even set up the camera’s optical image stabilization mode before and after installation .

Canon PowerShot G11has a new features fast shooting mode, in this mode, the camera will not use the LCD viewfinder in favor of single-lens reflex cameras, as did the use of the top of the optical viewfinder for composition. The so-called fast-shooting, in this mode, we can use G11 to complete a faster focusing shooting.

In turn the camera’s rapid shooting mode, the screen becomes the SLR like interface, only the shooting parameters, and the viewfinder does not show the contents. At the same time, Canon PowerShot G11, conduct real-time focus, in order to fast shooting. Canon G11 also supports single-lens reflex cameras, as well as the common single-servo AF auto-focus in the process of AE metering, which enable us to capture moving objects more handy. However, compared to single-lens reflex cameras, G11 in the Servo AF accuracy on the reaction rate still has some gaps.

Canon PowerShot G11′s sensitivity dial up the sensitivity is only available to the ISO3200. For DC, this level of sensitivity has been finished basically able to meet daily needs, but G11 which with a “double noise reduction” technology, there is another feature to improve sensitivity. In the camera, there is a low-light mode, in this mode, the camera’s sensitivity will be controlled at between ISO320-ISO12800. And in order to better control noise, this time around recorded with 2.5 million pixels. However, when the sensitivity is automatically adjusted to the ISO6400, the pictures that took by Canon PowerShot G11 bare already out of the high-quality areas.

Canon G series incorporates a lens with high optical quality, while the continuation of the classic from the G10 design in 5 optical variable G11 also be complete with him. In the wide-angle end and telephoto end, Canon G11 camera showed a top resolution for the ability, as a 10 million pixels DC, G11 imaging capability over the actual number of 12 million-pixel products. Especially in the telephoto end, G11 up to 2200LW/PH results have also been more than four-fold or even three times as many low-magnification optical zoom camera. Canon G11 at F5.6 will be able to show when a hexagonal star Mount effects, and even bright direct injection lens, the camera photos are no spots, fogging and other negative phenomena.

Thanks to “Double Noise Reduction” – large-size sensor noise + DIGIC4 processor noise, Canon G11 has a better ability to control noise than G10. Especially in ISO200 or less, we are even in the larger photo under the premise of the camera almost do not see a decline in quality. As the sensitivity to ISO400, Canon G11′s image began to appear slightly fuzzy noise and detail. The ISO800, although there have been visible quality declined, but compared to other consumer-level cameras, G11′s ISO800 photo has a very high availability.

When the sensitivity up to ISO1600 and ISO3200, apparently even a double noise reduction technologies can not stop the G11 image quality dropped significantly. But this time the pictures did not appear mottled, so after reduce the size of the photos are still good.

Summary
• Classical Return
Speaking of Canon PowerShot G11, the first is reflected on the word “return”, have to say, G11 is a classical return product. After a pixel size of a strong return after the upgrade flip screen, low-pixel density, return to high-quality CCD sensor, and has been done before the manipulation of customary shape and … … before substantial price cuts of the SLR, once vested with the high-end DC, seems to come back!

• Breakthrough Innovation
G11 is a “breakthrough” camera, first of all, it broke through the high-resolution, large zoom ratio of the cycle. Dare to abandon the mentality of the pixels on the radical, dare not to use large zoom lens choices than high-quality imaging. Of course, in G11, we have not seen a practical high-definition camera function, it would be a sort of a small regrets. But in the G11, we still see some breakthrough to the camera market hidden rules, in particular the negative effects from some of the quality of the “hidden rules” (for example, more and more high pixels).

• Unique Positioning
While the G11 is available now, we see the classic Canon PowerShot G10 still do not withdraw from the market, not even reflect the slump. The coexistence of two generations of Canon’s flagship DC looks unreasonable, but the G10 and G11 are respectively represent two different pictures of style trends – high-resolution photos and high ISO low noise pictures. This is not only the Canon G11′s unique positioning, but also the main reason for a lot of canon fans pursuit this camera.

• Advantages:

noise-control;

Lens optical quality of the superior;

Well-structured professional,

sophisticated manufacturing processes;

Flexible operation,

fast,battery durability
• Disadvantages:

does not have the high-definition camera function,
too large ,
general portability
